First day racing at the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup for the Esimit Sailing Team!

Busy schedule for our Esimit Sailing Team at the first day of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup: 9.00 AM team meeting, 10.00 AM dock-out and finally the starting signal at approximately 12.00 CEST. A relatively short but tactically demanding 29 nautical miles coastal course was chosen for the maxi racing category by the race committee.  The course led the fleet from the start at the Bay of Porto Cervo to ECHO to port – GOLF to port – KILO to port – FOXTROT to starboard – Island of Soffi to starboard – BRAVO to starboard and then finishing again in the Bay of Porto Cervo. The Esimit Sailing Team, led by legendary Jochen Schϋmann, faced a light breeze of up to 10 knots in the morning, which increased up to 16 knots during the race. Our team was first to cross the finish line at 2.32.01. First day of the 23^rd edition of the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup done, another 4 races to go within that week of spectacular sailing races, which every year puts the world’s finest yachts in a direct competition!
